Brochoscopy This procedure allows the surgeon to gain direct visualization of the mucosa of the trachea, the main bronchi and their openings, and most of the segmental bronchi. This is done through the use of a device called a bronchoscope.
Mediastinoscopy This procedure allows the surgeon to gain direct visualization of lympgh nodes or tumors in the superior mediastinum. Once the surgeon has visual access, he or she can than perform a byopsy if needed. This procedure is done with the use of a device called a mediastinoscope.
